Hello!

It seems that virtually every mom out there has a blog these days. So, I decided I might as well join the trend.

I am a first-time mommy. My beautiful boy, Zachary David, was born on January 11, 2011. Yep! 1/11/11. Pretty cool birthday, right?

So far, this kid has been a dream baby. He sleeps at least 3 hours at a time during the night, he breastfeeds easily, but also took a bottle of expressed milk the first time without any hesitation. He only cries when he needs something. Oh, and he looks perfect! :)

My first Real Mommy Adventure happened this last week...Zach is 3 weeks old and I come down with the flu on Monday afternoon! Anyone who knows me will tell you that I will not go to the doctor until I am on my death bed or am forced to go by a family member. So, when I first got sick Monday, I shrugged it off and continued on with my day. But, by Tuesday night, I felt so bad that I was wanting MY mommy. She came over on Wednesday and sure enough she forced me to go to the doctor. Diagnosis: flu. Joy!

So, here I am with a 3 week old baby and sick with the flu. Thank goodness for my mom! She came over everyday and took care of me and Zach. She even cleaned my house!

But, despite her help, there were a few things that just were not fun while having the flu:
1. Pumping. Here I am, spiking a fever of 103 degrees, sitting with blankets all around me, pumping breast milk. Shivering and pumping do not mix well. Luckily, I did not spill any milk!
2. Breastfeeding at night. I tend to spike my highest fever late at night. So, the last thing I wanted to do was get out of bed to get Zach so he could eat. My husband would wake up if I punched him and get Zach to give to me. But, when he was done eating, was hubby still awake?? Oh noooo...So, I had to unwrap myself, put Zach back in his bassinet, and then proceed to warm myself up all over again.
3. Cleaning up cat puke. Yep, of all weeks for our white cat to decide to puke everywhere. Best part was that he puked on my sofa! Thank goodness for microfiber!

I'm on day 6 of being sick. Here's hoping I'm finally on the road to recovery!
